Former acting principal of Gurgaon’s Ryan International School , Bhondi branch, Neerja Batra who was suspended following the murder of a seven-year-old student in the school premises has been re-appointed and demoted. Batra has been effectively shifted to another branch of the Ryan International School in Gurgaon’s sector 40. But according to reports, parents are not happy with this latest development on part of the authorities who are still reeling under extreme criticism over their lackadaisical management. Neerja Batra was caught in the eye of the storm after a class 2 student, Pradyuman Thakur was found murdered inside the school washroom on September 8.
Pradyuman was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit , allegedly with a sharp object. He succumbed to his injuries at a Gurgaon hospital, due to lack of immediate medical attention. Bhondsi branch of Ryan International School reopened on September 25, with its management been taken over by the Haryana government for the next three months. Parents have been personally assured by the Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh that their children’s safety and security is priority for the administration and staff, and it is not something the authorities will compromise with.
In latest development, around 45 CCTVs have been installed in the Bhondsi campus and the construction of a new boundary wall has begun. All the teaching and non-teaching staff have undergone police verification and now wear ID cards. A metal detector has been placed at the entry gate and people who enter are being frisked by guards. Parents have been provided with ID cards too and now visitors have to provide proper identity proof.
